- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Vascular Sonographer

- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive diagnostic evaluations
- Monitor and maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring its proper functioning and safety
- Educate and reassure patients throughout the ultrasound examination process
- Adhere to quality assurance standards and follow established protocols and procedures

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program
- Current WA state RN licensure maintained
- Current BLS and ACLS certification maintained
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- At least two years of experience in an ambulatory or acute care setting
- Experience administering and monitoring moderate sedation or ICU experience preferred
- Experience in procedural nursing and sterile procedures preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office

General Patient Care
- Reviews charts prior to scheduled appointment to ensure complete information available for procedure
- Assesses patients and completes preparation for procedure
- Maintains sterile field during procedure
- Administers moderate sedation under physician supervision and monitors patient during and after procedure
- Assists with procedure room turnover between patients as needed
- Teaches patient and family before and after procedure and evaluates learning
- Provides general nursing care to patients; administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards
- Cross trains and assists in other job roles (procedural scrub, front desk, clinic rooming, etc.)
- Complies with OSHA guidelines to prevent exposure of self and others to infectious material

- Triages incoming telephone calls; instructs patient and family regarding treatment instruction, then documents action taken in patient chart
- Oversees appointment bookings and ensures urgent situations are scheduled appropriately; maintains timely flow of patients
- Replenishes supplies—stocks and cleans nursing area and procedure room, orders and receives medical and pharmaceutical supplies

Typical Physical Demands
Position requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, as well as manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Involves standing and walking. Employee will occasionally be asked to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. Normal visual acuity and hearing are required. Employee will work under stressful conditions, and may work irregular hours. Employee will be exposed to bodily fluids on a regular basis. Employee will have frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinical environment.
Pay: $42.00 – $48.00 per hour

Pre-Med Gap Year Medical Assistant/Scribe Program

Join Northwest Endovascular Surgery’s paid Pre-med Medical Assistant/Scribe program (PMA)!
Saravanan Kasthuri, MD, serves as medical director at Northwest Endovascular Surgery (NWES) and is a clinical assistant professor at WSU Elson S Floyd College of Medicine. He is passionate about providing students with a holistic view of healthcare and hands-on experience to learn and engage with every aspect of running a successful practice.
In this position, PMAs are trained in four key aspects of the practice: front desk work, medical assisting/scribing, assisting with minor surgical procedures, and scrubbing in to assist on endovascular surgical procedures. PMAs support the NWES team and provide ideas to promote efficiency in the care process while gaining key clinical exposure to prepare them for their future in healthcare.
This is an excellent opportunity for premedical students on a gap year looking to gain key clinical exposure and invaluable insights into the workings of a medical practice that will prepare them for their future in medicine.

- Schedule new patient and follow-up appointments as well as the appropriate procedures as directed by the physician.
- Work to ensure the physician’s time in the clinic is spent efficiently by generating clinic templates, recording patient history, completing pre-registration calls to verify appointments, and obtaining a clinical history from patients.
- During clinic hours PMAs room patients, obtain their vitals, collective subjective information from the patient and family, and identify the main objective the patient wants to accomplish through their appointment.
- PMAs then convey this information to the physician in an efficient manner and assist the physician with notes during the clinical examination. Responsible for room cleaning and turnover.
- Assist in helping the team and physician in the vascular and spinal interventional procedures.
- Prepare sterile field and instruments for the physician.
- Support RNs, RTs, and scrub techs with noting vitals, and procedural inventory.
- Provide appropriate surgical supplies during the procedure.
- Clean, disinfect, and turn over rooms.
- Monitor pre/post-op patients as instructed.
- Keep all areas clean, tidy, and sanitized.
- Serve as the second assist during endovascular procedures
- Progress to primary assist person.
- Knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology preferred
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to be clear, courteous, and professional in all means of communication
- Comfortable with typing and working with computers
- Avid learner with the ability to engage, ask questions, and the willingness to learn on a steep learning curve
